On 10th September, in commemoration of World Mental Health Day, Apecho Foundation organized a powerful mental health awareness walk through the streets of Soroti City. The event brought together community members, volunteers, and advocates with one shared purpose, to raise awareness about mental health, inspire hope, and remind people that no one has to face their struggles alone.
Mental health is an essential part of overall wellbeing, yet many people continue to suffer in silence because of stigma, fear, or lack of understanding. Through this awareness walk, Apecho Foundation sought to encourage open conversations about mental health and create a community where seeking support is seen as a sign of strength rather than weakness. As participants walked through different parts of the city, they shared messages of hope, compassion, and encouragement with the public. The walk served as a reminder that every person deserves to be heard, supported, and treated with dignity, regardless of the challenges they may be facing.

The event also emphasized the importance of recognizing the early signs of mental health challenges, supporting friends and family members who may be struggling, and promoting access to help whenever it is needed. By engaging the community in meaningful conversations, the walk encouraged greater understanding and empathy toward those living with mental health conditions.
Every step taken during the walk symbolized solidarity with individuals who silently battle anxiety, depression, stress, and other mental health challenges. It was a clear message that every life matters, mental health matters, and together we can build communities where people feel safe to speak up and seek help.

At Apecho Foundation, we believe that creating healthier communities begins with compassion, awareness, and collective action. Our commitment to mental health advocacy remains strong as we continue to educate communities, challenge stigma, and promote a culture where everyone feels valued, supported, and empowered to live healthy and fulfilling lives.
Together, we will continue walking, speaking out, and standing with those who need hope the most, because no one should ever have to walk alone.
